20/20 Vision

20/20 Vision

At ten years old, I took an eye test at school only to discover I didn’t have 20/20 vision. So brown horn-rimmed glasses were prescribed and I could see. But, by 9th grade, I was self-conscience about those glasses. I wore them only when necessary so contact lenses were prescribed. Once again, I could see. In my 40’s, lasik surgery became a thing. I did it and I could see all the time!! Woohoo! But, it wasn’t long before I discovered I couldn’t read a menu, so reading glasses were prescribed. I could see again. Then my 60’s hit and cataracts developed, threatening my vision. Surgery was prescribed. I could see.
Just as my physical vision has been a journey, so has my spiritual vision. I’ve learned that seeing clearly, whether it’s physically or spiritually, is a gift and not one to be taken lightly. Often we ask God to reveal something to us, but we aren’t willing to do what is prescribed. God’s prescription is always the same. Test every vision, thought, suggestion, goal, resolution, request, or dream against the word of God. Reading, studying, mediating, and praying God’s word will lead to a 20/20 vision that sees God and His plans clearly. Have a great week.
