Dance with Me

Dance with Me

Sometimes things don’t go as planned,” the preacher said Sunday morning. I nodded yes to this truth. For three months my sweet hubby followed me to ballroom dance lessons. We were determined to be ready for Sadie’s wedding reception.

Well, I’m here to report that the amazing, super fun, flew-in-from-Atlanta band didn’t play one song that we could show off our new “Fox Trot” moves. Lol. Three months of lessons down the tube, so to speak.

I could have been disappointed, if not for what God had set aside for that night: witnessing two young people dedicate their lives to each other and God; hugs and conversations with family and friend from years of life together; experiencing the beauty of a night, predicted to be cold, but transformed by God to be perfect; abundant and delicious food straight from south Louisiana.

Oh my!! How God delights in covering our disappointments in joy. Perhaps God has a much better dance prepared for you than the one you hoped for or dreamed to dance.

When we trust God with our story, the story might not look like we thought it would look, but it will not be disappointing. With open eyes and alert ears, look and listen for God to show up and ask for the next dance. It will be the best one of the night!! Have a blessed week.
