Do Not Be Afraid
The surreal event that changed America forever was showing when I turned on the TV early this morning. I was looking for an update on the damage done by Hurricane Irma. A few minutes later I received a text that a friend’s neighbor’s house was on fire. Then news of the death of one of my former students reached me. Followed by news of a good friend sick with cancer. Sadness, despair, grief, pain, tribulations—all words to describe this day. I picked up the beautiful dress our sweet Aslyn will wear for this year’s homecoming celebration and headed out the door to help with pre-event pictures. The faces of innocence greeted me when I got to the location. Eager, excited, joy-filled, hopeful, nervous, optimistic–these words describe this day too. So many thoughts and emotions swirl around any day the Lord gives us, especially this day. I love Deuteronomy 31:6. I hope it speaks to you today. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Have a great week. Hugs, 2-mama
