Not So Big
Have you ever given something “not so big” too much power? We had a funny incident at our house recently that involved a small cat.
We don’t have any pets, yet somehow a cat snuck into our house one day when the back door was left open. Friends were staying with us, and we weren’t home when they arrived. We told them to make themselves at home, so they did. But while checking out the bedrooms, they heard a cat meowing. A quick phone light scan revealed a small gray cat under the bed. They promptly ran out of the bedroom—then right out of the house! Goodness! You would have thought it was a full-grown tiger, not a tiny stray cat.
Isn’t that just like us sometimes? We give power to things that truly have none. We let fear, worry, or doubt grow bigger than they really are. But God is a God of power and strength—He’s never intimidated by the small stuff that seems so big to us.
So this week, let’s remember: don’t let a kitten steal the peace that only God’s mighty hand can secure. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1
