Fun Habits
Sweet 2 Papa has a fun habit. Every time—and I mean every time—he fills up the car with gas, he says, “We’ve got 560 miles to empty. Where do you want to go?” My answer is always the same: “I want to go home.”
Over the last few weeks, we’ve attended the celebrations of life for three of our dear friends who God called home. It’s sad for us—the ones left behind. Each left behind wives, children, and, as their obituaries read, a host of friends. Each lived honest, faith-filled earthly journeys. One loved to sing. Another loved to worship. Another loved to travel and see the world. All were sweet husbands and great daddies. They were happy here on earth. They loved life.
But, like me with a full tank of gas, they knew where they wanted to go. Home was always the destination. And now, they’ve arrived.
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms… I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:1–2
