Olympic Flashback

Olympic Flashback

A little Olympic flashback for you. It was the thud heard around the world as ice skater, Zhang Dan fell in an attempt to land a quadruple Salchow in the 2006 winter Olympics. After her fall, Zhang Dan continued to spin across the ice, stopping only after she barreled into the retaining wall. The world watched in horror. Zhang Dan skated to the side for four and a half minutes of rubbing her knees and crying. But, then the real story begins, the pair collected themselves and skated to a silver metal finish. In an interview, she stated, “We didn’t say any words of giving up. We are at the Olympics.” Wow! Such courage from a 20 year old. There will be times in life when you’ll hit the side of a wall and feel like you can’t get up. When that happens, remember Zhang Dan’s words, only modify them. “I won’t say any words of giving up. I am a child of the living King.” Have a great week. Hugs, 2-mama
