Delight Yourself in the Lord

Delight Yourself in the Lord

Over the holiday weekend, my sweet mother had our large family over for tacos. Now, when she does tacos, she hand fries each one. It’s a lot of work to hand fry tacos for a houseful of hungry eaters. But she doesn’t think of it as such. Do you know why? Because she delights in doing things for her family. One of my favorite verses is Psalm 37:4: “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Most of the time, our humanness jumps to the “desires of MY heart” part of this verse, but this verse is conditional. Read it again. It tells us to “delight in the Lord and…”What does that mean? Well, remember how mamaw shows her family that she delights in us? She does what pleases us and strives to put us first, even if it means extra work for her. If you truly DELIGHT in the Lord, you will bend over backwards to do what pleases Him because that’s exactly what He’s doing for you. Have a blessed week. Hugs, 2 mama
