Simple Request

Simple Request

Today is a day with a simple request: Let’s all just love each other and get along. It is a simple request. Right? In fact, for us baby boomers, it was a battle cry of sorts. Remember that song. The Youngbloods. 1967. “Come on people now. Smile on each other. Everybody get together. Try to love one another right now.” It was released one year before Martin Luther King was assassinated. Apparently, someone wasn’t listening to the song. And, now, we’re fifty years beyond that song and, in many ways, we’re still not listening. There’s too much hate, not enough love. Young people bully and are unkind to each other. Older people stop talking and stop looking for the good in others. But, we can change that. Maybe we (you and I) can’t actually change the whole world. People like Martin Luther King tried and made a huge contribution, but there is a stumbling block—people. People who don’t know Jesus and His gift of love to us. So, what happens now? Now, we keep preaching, teaching, telling, showing, and being God’s love to others. So that, love is not just a song we sing, it’s a gift we give because it’s been given to us. Have a blessed week. Hugs, 2 mama
