Who I am?

Who I am?

Our grandkids call us 2 mama and 2 papa. Our oldest grandson “named us” when he was 22 months old and it stuck. The littles struggle with putting the 2 with mama and papa and, for a few months, until it’s mastered, we are mama and papa. While calling us mama and papa might confuse others, we are not confused.
We know who we are. Honey, our great granddaughter, just got it. She proudly puts the 2 with the papa and it’s the cutest.
So….what do we do? We ask her, “Who’s that?” and point to 2 papa. Are we confused? Of course not. We just love hearing her say it.
In the gospels, Jesus asked his disciples this question, “Who do you say I am?” Had he forgotten? Was he suddenly confused? Of course not. Jesus often asked questions He knew the answer to as a way of causing His followers to think. By this point in His ministry, he had walked on water, healed the sick, and forgiven many. You would think this question would have a ready and easy answer. But no. Not everyone got it.
As believers we know that God took on human flesh, lived among us, and then, in His immense love for us, died so we could be forgiven. I hope you get that.
Jesus.
Hugs, 2 mama
