Rip the Seam
I recently wiped the dust off of the old sewing machine and decided to make my great-grands a spring dress. I was so excited to create again. I eagerly bought my patterns and fabric and envisioned my littles in adorable dresses.
Sitting down at the machine was like riding a bike, so to speak. I threaded it easily, even with my “older” eyes, and I quickly had one seam of many done. I was so proud. I’m doing it again, I thought. But my excitement was soon over when I realized I had sown the seam from top to bottom, instead of bottom to top, stopping to leave space for a zipper. Yikes! Okay, maybe it wasn’t like riding a bike. It was my first stitch and I already had a seam ripper in my hand. (A seam ripper is a little tool that helps rip the thread out.) Still, a few hours later, my first creation was completed and ready for wear.
Here’s the deal. As the creator, I had power over the mistake I made. Guess who does that for you? Yep. Your creator. None of us are immune from mistakes, but in the midst of our mistakes is a creator ready to help us “rip the seam” out and start over. .
Perhaps you’ve done something or lots of somethings that need fixing. Turn to God. He made you. He knows every seam of your life and He can turn your mistake into a miracle. The Bible says we can be “more than conquerers” with God at our side. What could be better than that?
Have a great week. Hugs, 2 mama (hug pic: some of the littles)
